Synfig Studio is a powerful, open-source 2D vector animation software designed for creating high-quality animations without manual frame-by-frame tweening. Its key feature is the vector layer-based system, which automatically interpolates movement between keyframes. Synfig supports bone rigging for character animation, particle systems, filters, and effects. It uses a layer-based compositing workflow similar to professional tools, allowing for complex multi-layer animations with masks, gradients, and blending modes. Being open-source, it is completely free with an active community.
